Wang Jianhua

Wang Jianhua is a professor and doctoral supervisor at the Central Conservatory of Music, and adissertation review expert for the Ministry of Education of China. He is a member of the ChineseMusicians’ Association, Vice President of the China Percussion Society, Executive Director of the ChinaNationalities Orchestra Society, and Executive Vice President of its Percussion Committee. He also servesas Associate Editor-in-Chief of China Music (Percussion Volume).


Wang graduated from the Tianjin College of Operas (Currently known as Tianjin Art Vocational College),majoring in percussion in the Peking Opera Department under the tutelage of Mr. Li Shuping, and laterfrom the Department of Traditional Chinese Music at the Central Conservatory of Music, where hestudied under Mr. Li Zhengui. In 2021, he became a student of the renowned Peking Opera drummer Mr.Wang Yupu. Wang has performed as Principal Percussionist and later Honorary Principal Percussionistwith the Singapore Chinese Orchestra. He also served as Deputy Head of the Department of TraditionalChinese Music and Head of the Percussion Teaching and Research Section at the Central Conservatory ofMusic.


For many years, Wang has devoted himself to the performance, teaching and research of Chinesepercussion instruments. He has served as a judging member for numerous national and internationalpercussion competitions and has appeared as a soloist in percussion recitals with various orchestrasboth in China and abroad. His honors include the Gold Award for Performing Arts at the ‘China ShanxiInternational Luogu Competition’, First Prize at the ‘2nd Global Jiangnan Sizhu Competition’, the ‘WenhuaAward for Arts Educators’ presented by the Ministry of Culture, the ‘Beijing Higher Education TeachingExcellence Award’, the ‘Baosteel Excellent Teacher Award’ by the Ministry of Education, and the ‘GoldenSchool Badge Award’, the highest honor of the Central Conservatory of Music.
