To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA), HKAPA, Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra and Hong Kong Professional Zheng Ensemble present the first annual "International Guzheng Seminar" from 9 March to 11 March, 2014 at HKAPA. The seminar focuses on reviewing the history of Guzheng and anticipating the direction of Guzheng development in the future. Famous Guzheng performer Wang Zhongshan and ethnomusicologist Prof. Lau Cheung-kong are invited to give speeches. Different musicologists and Guzheng professionals, including Prof. Sun Wenyan, Prof. He Zhanhao, Prof. Wang Jianmin, Prof. Yu Siu-wah, Prof. Fan Wei-tsu, Prof. Cheng Te-yuan,and Prof. Xu Lingzi, will also present their study theses from a variety of perspectives and topics. Prof. Yan Huichang is invited to host the round table forum. Moreover, national-renowned Guzheng musicians are invited to performed with Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra and HKAPA orchestra in the closing concert. This is definitely a prominent event in both Guzheng and the academic spheres.
